The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Oakland Raiders Sunday and kept their record perfect with the help of a historically loud crowd.

Late in the 24-7 victory, the Sea of Red smashed the previous world record of 136.6 decibels — set during a Seattle Seahawks game this season — by peaking at 137.5 decibels.

“In the fourth quarter, as the Chiefs fans were celebrating their victory, all of the sudden it peaked at 137.5 decibels,” Philip Robertson, the Guinness World Record adjudicator said, per the Chiefs official site. “They screamed for an incredibly long time, probably longer than what I heard in Seattle.”

Now Arrowhead not only hosts one of the best teams in the NFL, but officially the loudest fans on earth.

Andy Reid has experienced plenty of crazed crowds while coaching the Philadelphia Eagles, but even he knew this was something special.

“Every win is a big win. When you can win with a crowd like this, it makes it even better,” the head coach told reporters. “I know we were striving to beat the noise record, the decibel record and we got it up to 137.5. That’s pretty incredible and it was loud, I mean real loud, ground-shaking loud.

After the game, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt released a statement to congratulate the rabid fan base.

“Not only were they loud, but they knew when to be loud and helped propel their Chiefs to victory. They proved what we’ve known for a long time – Chiefs fans are the best and loudest in the NFL.”

Check that, Mr. Hunt. Loudest IN THE WORLD.

Next up, the Houston Texans will visit Arrowhead next weekend full of drama at the quarterback position. I have no doubt the Chiefs fans will know just how to greet them Sunday afternoon.
